President Bola Tinubu has appointed a new board for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

President Bola Tinubu has appointed a new board to oversee the affairs of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Tinubu announced the appointment of seven Nigerian professionals on Friday in a statement by presidency spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.

The SEC board has Mairiga Aliyu Katuka as Chairman; Emomotimi Agama is Director-General while Frana Chukwuogor is Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement).

Others are Bola Ajomale — Executive Commissioner (Operations); Samiya Hassan Usman — Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services); Lekan Belo — Non-Executive Commissioner and Kasimu Garba Kurfi — Non-Executive Commissioner.

Ngelale said the President anticipates that all members of the board of this critical commission will bring to bear their wealth of experience and competence in advancing its core mandate.

This mandate includes developing and regulating a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent, and efficient.

According to Ngelale, the mandate is meant to bolster investor confidence and contribute immeasurably to Nigeria’s economic development.
