Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, known professionally as Rema, made a bold declaration on social media on Saturday, saying that there is “No more big 3 there’s now a big 4″.

The post was shared to his X account.

The “Big 3” often refers to the trio of Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, who are widely recognized as the biggest artists out of Nigeria.

Rema’s statement suggests that he should now be officially added to that category.

Rema has had an impressive year in 2024. He made history as the first African artist to achieve a billion streams on Spotify.

His song ‘Calm Down’ has been a global hit, becoming the longest-charting and most successful African song of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.

The concept of the “Big 3” originated from the the rap industry, referring to Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole, and has been a topic of discussion for quite some time .

These three artists have dominated the rap scene since 2010, each making significant contributions to the genre.

The term “Big 3” gained more attention when Kendrick Lamar released a verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s track “Like That”.

In this track, Kendrick Lamar directly references the “Big 3”, which is commonly known as himself, Drake, and J.Cole, claiming it’s only him at the top of the rap chain.

He also compares himself to Prince and the others to Michael Jackson, suggesting his work will outlive both of them.

This statement by Kendrick Lamar started a lot of back and forth of social media subs and diss tracks between the three rappers.

Below are some of Rema’s posts as he decided to let some things off his chest.

No more Big 3 there’s now a Big 4.
